Spanish - English Meat


The names used for cuts of meat around the world are notoriously inconsistent. Between cities, or even two shops on the same street, asking for a specific cut can often lead to confused looks or blank stares. This is partly because meat is cut up differently in different countries, but mostly it's because names have never been standardized.

The list below favors Spanish names for meat as they are used in Mexico. For the English side of the table, names favored in the United States are used.
